The digital age has liberated photographers to rise out of their darkroom caskets like many pale faced draculas. We'd be on the beach if we could just finish up what we're doing on the computer.

Beltane is the Irish name for May Day. On this day wiccans gather to celebrate the end of Winter, the begining of Summer and fertility. Top photo, Walking through the beltane or bel fire. This weeks large brush fire in Deer Park had me recalling my visit to Deer Park Fire Department's burn room. This is where fire veterans teach probies what to do under fire conditions. The story, NY Times February 17,2002, "No Pay, Long Hours but, Now, Glory" by Donna Kutt Nahas won a Press Club of Long Island Media Award.
Kudos go out to my good friend Vincent Casey who grabbed my camera and made his way to the stage to get this very nice photo (top) of Rod Stewart at Madison Square Garden with the Faces 1971. We later followed Vincent through the looking glass to a backstage party (middle photo) celebrating the Faces first Garden appearance. The bottom one was at Nassau Coliseum in 1973. 
It was good to see Rod Stewart on American Idol tonight! Interesting to hear him say that he will be closing The Great American Songbook to return to his rock roots. This photo was from a 2004 show at Southampton College.
Photographers are like moths drawn to a streetlamp when it comes to a spectacular sunset like this one at Jones Beach.
I came across this beautiful angel while walking through London's Highgate Cemetary on a Spring afternoon 1992.
This photo reminds me of an interesting first season episode of Twilight Zone, "The After Hours". It had department store mannequins coming to life for one month a year. I can picture these two walking along a neon lit 23rd Street and disappearing into the Chelsea Hotel.
These photos were for a story by Julia C. Mead (Ticket to Nowhere, NY Times, June 20, 2004) on Hulda Mazariego who graduated from Wyandanch Memorial High School with a higher grade average than any other student in her class. She was offered a full scholarship to college but being an illegal immigrant she could not take it. Her family had made the difficult trip from Guatemala in 1992.
I just happened to be walking by Barnes & Noble when Cindy Crawford was doing a calendar signing. Since I had my Nikkormat with me I stoped in to see if I could snap a photo and get Cindy to autograph the back of the camera. She thought this was a a great idea and had the video crew do a nice close up as she signed it. I sold the Nikkormat about 5 years ago on ebay for 135 $$$$.

These were taken on the occasion of Steve Buscemi returning to the high school he graduated from in 1975 (Valley Stream Central) to receive a distinguished alumni award. Who would ever have guessed that he'd be the one ushering Tony Soprano to heaven's gate on HBO some thirty years later. Photos were for a story in the New York Times by Marcelle S. Fischler, March 20th, 2005.
I've been scanning some 120mm film from a 1983 photo session with Jeffrey Lee Pierce. The results show so much more detail than the original prints. This photo was used for the Gun Club's Death Party EP. An earlier Jeffrey Lee Pierce post can be viewed here.
